Lee Selby decisions Hunter in London to retain the title

On April 9, 2016 – Welshman Lee Selby retained the IBF Featherweight title via a 12 round unanimous decision over West Philly’s Eric “Outlaw” Hunter at the sold out O2 Arena in London.

It was a tough spot for Hunter, who competed for short money in front of 20,000+ opposing fans. While there were no advantages in his favor, it seemed like he left many opportunities on the table during the fight.

In a performance that can be best described as frustrating, Hunter did show some glimpses to suggest that he belongs at the top level. His best moment of the fight came in round two when he knocked the champion clean-to-the-canvas courtesy of a counter left hook to Selby’s ear.

Klitschko Stops Chambers in the 12th…

Talk about it on the forum

On March 20, 2010 in Germany – Wladimir Klitschko retains his status as the worlds top heavyweight with a 12th round KO win over Fast Eddie Chambers. Not much to report from rounds 1 – 11 as neither man were very active though Klitschko won every round with sheer strength and aggression. Chambers corner’s advise every round seemed to be something like “go out there and fight!”.

Dr. Steel Hammer picked up the pace – going for a KO in the 12th and got it with :12 left in the round with a nasty left hook that put Fast Eddie down for the count. After the fight Chambers did seem to have no lasting effects of the knockout. Keep your head up Eddie!

LaJuan Simon to compete in an IBF eliminator in German on Saturday!

photo by Ed Mulholland / www.fightwireimages.com

Philly Middleweight contender Lajuan Simon (21-1-2, 12 KOs), once again heads out to Germany for an important fight in the divisional standings. This time he will square off against Sebastian Sylvester (30-3, 15 KOs), of Greifswald, Germany for a twelve round IBF middleweight eliminator at Max Schmeling Halle in Berlin, Germany. Simon, ranked #10 by the IBF, and Sylvester, ranked #5, will battle for the vacant #2-spot in the IBF rankings. The shot is a reward of sorts for Simon, who fought tooth and nail with IBF world champion Arthur Abraham in a title challenge last March, only to lose a lopsided decision. Many neutral observers felt that Simon deserved perhaps a draw. Sylvester dropped a decision to Felix Sturm in a WBA title challenge last November, but bounced back to win the IBF International title in his next bout. FightNews correspondent Rick Sharmberg stops in with an interview with the one they call “simply Marvelous” Read it here http://edmulholland.com/galleries/scharm_interview/simon_inter.html

LaJuan Simon to fight Arthur Abraham in Germany March 14th!

USBA Middleweight champion LaJuan Simon (20-0-2, 12ko’s) just got an opportunity of a lifetime as he was offered a crack at Arthur Abraham’s 28-0, 23ko’s) IBF Middleweight title on March 14th. The fight will take place at Ostseehalle, Kiel, Schleswig-Holstein, Germany which is Abraham’s backyard. It’s a big jump up for Simon who most recently plowed through anonymous journeyman Jose Spearman while Abraham was last seen blowing out big named Edison Miranda on national TV. It’s a tall task for the Philly native going into enemy territory but stranger things have happened.
