“King” Gabriel Rosado wins a tough 10 round decision in Los Angeles. Second straight win with Fernando Vargas in his corner

On June 4, 2016 King Gabriel Rosado continued his revival in Los Angeles by winning a close 10 round unanimous decision over Mexico’s Antonio Gutierrez (20-2-1, 9 ko’s) at the StubHub Center .

In typical fashion for the North Philly native, many are saying this bout was a hard-fought war, one where Rosado (23-9, 13 ko’s) had to get off the canvas in round 4 to secure his victory. Final scores were 96-96, 95-94 & 95-94.

This is Rosado’s second straight win with former world champion Fernando Vargas as his trainer. The wins over solid competition are beginning to put the “King’s” cold streak from 2013 – 2015 in the rear view mirror.

Speculation is that this W will get Rosado back on prime TV against a big name. A jump to the 168 pound division has also been mentioned as a possibility.

  1. Good to see Gabe back in the win column. He’s certainly big enough to be a mw as along as he stays away from a rematch with GGG. Then he might be better at 168. With Ward finally back in the ring after keeping his contenders from a title fight for 2 years and up where he belongs at 175 like in the amateurs when he was 178. I’d love to see him and the “Krusher” Kovalev.
