VNC on the Mac to access and control Windows computers

wanting to use VNC on the Mac to access and control Windows computers, you don't need additional software.  VNC Viewer is already built in to OS X 10.5.  To do it just connect to a server:

Go > Connect to server... (or press CMD+K)
In the server address instead of typing smb:// or afp:// type vnc:// and the IP or computer name.

This will use screen sharing and allow you to control the computer the same way VNC always has.

to Remote desktop into a MAC from a PC you must install a VNC Viewer (http://www.tightvnc.com/download.php) is a good one!

Download the from the Windows mirror on the PC, install VNC Viewer

On the Mac 

go to 

Apple - System Preferences - Sharing

Check Remote Management

click Computer Settings

Check Anyone may request permission to control screen

Check VNC viewers may control screen with password

ABSOLUTELY PASSWORD PROTECT THIS FEATURE!!!!!!!!

Open VNC viewer on PC - type in the IP address or host name of the MAC. It should open right up! 

Change Computer Name on a MAC OSX

to change MAC OSX Computer name such as "keiths-macbook-Computer": 

Go to - 

System Preferences › Sharing › Computer Name.

Recover Deleted Items in Outlook

To recover deleted items, click Deleted Item Recovery on the Tools menu. It many only have the past couple of days depending on Exchange purge settings.

Outlook emails and signatures are double spaced

So you set up a nice new signature for outlook. You are firing out emails at warp speed. Then you get a reply.... oh snap, everything is double spaced??? WTF?

Before you go sending that raise proposal to the CEO, follow these steps to make your message look legit (and single spaced)

Step 1

1. Step 1 - First, you have to open Outlook. Then in Outlook, on the Tools menu, click Options.

2. Step 2

   Next you have to click the Mail Format tab. Then select Signatures.

3. Step 3

   Then the next step is in the Signature box, select the signature that you want to modify, and then click Edit.

4. Step 4

   Here's where all of the action is. Place the insertion point after the last character in the line.
   Press DELETE, and then press SHIFT+ENTER.

5. Step 5

   Repeat Step 4 for each line of text.
   When you have finished with all lines, click OK three times.
   

Install a wireless mouse to Mac

1. Step 1

   Install two AA batteries in your wireless mouse.

2. Step 2

   Turn your mouse over, then slide the power switch over to cover the light.

3. Step 3

   Open your utilities folder to locate the "Bluetooth Setup Assistant."

4. Step 4

   Open the Setup Assistant then click "Continue."

5. Step 5

   Choose the "Mouse" option on the "Select Device Type" panel.

6. Step 6

   Turn on your mouse by sliding the power switch so the light is not covered.

7. Step 7

   Click "Continue" on your computer when the light on the mouse starts to flash.

8. Step 8

   Choose the mouse from the "Setup Assistant" listing then click "Continue."

9. Step 9

   Click "Continue" again when the Assistant window says that the installation was successful.

10. Step 10

    Click "Quit" to exit setup.

No Recycle Bin icon on desktop

One day your recycle bin icon disappears... oh snap! How do I get this back?


Well, if your recycle bin icon disappears from the desktop. Try this move right here...


Start by right-clicking your desktop and selecting "properties." On the window that comes up, select the "desktop" tab, then click "customize desktop." On the next window, select "recycle bin (full)" and click "restore default," then repeat with "recycle bin (empty)."


This should restore the recycle bin icon to your desktop and SHOULD work for all Windows Operating Systems
